Data Governance Officer

Role Summary The Data Governance Officer will play a critical role in strengthening the company’s enterprise data governance framework, ensuring data quality, compliance, and effective data lifecycle management across the organization. This role requires strong cross‑functional collaboration, excellent English communication skills, and proven experience working in multinational environments within the financial services sector. Key Responsibilities - Data Governance Framework: Develop, implement, and maintain enterprise-wide data governance policies, standards, and procedures aligned with regulatory and business requirements. - Data Quality Management: Establish data quality metrics, monitoring mechanisms, and remediation processes to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency of critical data assets. - Data Stewardship & Ownership: Partner with business units, IT, and data stewards to define data ownership, accountability, and stewardship roles across the organization. - Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with relevant data-related regulations, and support audits, risk assessments, and regulatory reporting. - Data Lifecycle & Classification: Oversee data classification, retention, and archival processes to ensure secure and compliant data handling. - Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with technology, risk, compliance, operations, and business teams to embed data governance practices into daily operations. - Training & Awareness: Conduct training sessions and awareness programs to promote data governance culture and best practices across the organization.

Education & Experience - Bachelor’s degree or above in Information Management, Data Science, Computer Science, Finance, or related fields. - 7+ years of experience in data governance, data management, data quality, or related roles. - Financial services industry experience is required (banking, insurance, asset management, fintech, etc.). - Experience working in a multinational corporation (MNC) or cross‑border environment. Skills & Competencies - Strong understanding of data governance frameworks (e.g., DAMA‑DMBOK), data quality principles, and metadata management. - Familiarity with data governance tools (e.g., Collibra, Informatica, Alation) is a plus. - Knowledge of regulatory requirements related to data in China’s financial sector. - Excellent communication skills, including professional English proficiency (written and verbal). - Strong analytical thinking, stakeholder management, and problem‑solving abilities. - Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment. Preferred Qualifications - Experience supporting digital transformation, data strategy, or data architecture initiatives. - Certification in data governance or data management (e.g., CDMP). - Understanding of cloud data platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and data security practices.
