Junior Quality Manager

As part of our plans, we’re looking for a Junior Quality Manager to join our Product Team. What you’ll do As our Junior Quality Manager, you will be Ooni’s "eyes and ears" on the ground within our partner manufacturing facilities. This is an autonomous role ideal for a process-driven professional who balances technical expertise with a relentless eye for detail. You will be critical to ensuring our suppliers meet the high standards our customers expect.   Key Responsibilities 1. Technical Diagnostics & Problem Solving ● Root Cause Analysis (RCA): When quality issues arise, you lead the solution. Utilize tools like the 5 Whys and Ishikawa (Fishbone) diagrams to move past symptoms to find the true cause. ● CAPA Management: Manage the Corrective and Preventative Actions framework. Define clear problem statements, lead immediate containment strategies, and verify long-term fixes. ● Physical Alignment: Physically demonstrate product failures to factory managers to ensure total alignment between Ooni’s standards and the factory’s output. 2. Supplier Quality Systems & Auditing ● QMS Auditing: Conduct audits based on ISO 9001 standards. You will look beyond the surface to investigate specific operational "threads" and identify hidden risks. ● Supplier Development: Work with the China Supply Chain team to assess existing and potential suppliers. Provide feedback on their quality management maturity and follow up on regular non-conformance (NC) reports. ● Ethics & Compliance: Partner with our Regenerative team to monitor supplier Code of Conduct (CoC) and ensure workplace standards meet Ooni’s expectations. 3. Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) You will own the PPAP for new and existing components, ensuring accountability for: ● FMEA: Leading Failure Mode and Effects Analysis to anticipate and mitigate risks before they hit the line. ● Control Plans: Creating and verifying robust Quality Control Plans. ● Statistical Analysis: Analyzing Process Capability ($C_{pk}$) and SPC data to ensure manufacturing stability. ● Product Acceptance: Signing off on reports to ensure compliance standards are met. 4. Process Improvement & Training ● Factory Floor Excellence: Drive suppliers to maintain effective workshop management, including 5S, proper identification, and rework procedures. ● Measurement Validation: Drive suppliers to plan and verify Measurement System Analysis (MSA) to ensure effective testing. ● Coaching: Train factory staff on Ooni’s specific quality requirements and basic quality tools (QC 7-tools). Essential Skills and Experience: ● Previous experience in a Quality Engineering or Quality Management role within a manufacturing environment. ● Technical Literacy: You speak the language of ISO 9001 and are comfortable with statistical process control ($C_{pk}$) as well as are familiar with stamping, casting, and powder coating processes. ● Foundational knowledge of PPAP, FMEA, and Statistical Process Control ($C_{pk}$). A Six Sigma Green Belt is a significant advantage. ● You’ll be displaying the ‘Oooni’ Mindset - you are autonomous and proactive. You don’t wait for instructions when you see a quality risk; you take the lead. ● Fluent in Mandarin and English. You must be able to convey complex technical requirements to factory floor managers while reporting clearly back to HQ. ● You are comfortable working on-site at various supplier locations and have the confidence to challenge supplier data when it doesn't match reality.   WhyXX?
