Position Overview
The Quality Director will lead the overall quality strategy and execution for automotive mechanical and structural components, covering both traditional automotive and new energy vehicle (NEV) platforms. This role requires strong leadership, aggressive problem‑solving capability, and the ability to drive cross‑functional teams toward rapid and sustainable quality improvement. The ideal candidate brings deep experience in customer quality, supplier quality, and system management within the automotive sector.
Key Responsibilities
1. Quality Leadership & Strategy
Lead the company’s quality organization, including customer quality, supplier quality, incoming inspection, process quality, and quality systems.
Develop and execute aggressive quality improvement strategies aligned with business goals.
Build a high‑performance quality team through coaching, training, and performance management.
2. Customer Quality Management
Serve as the primary quality interface for key OEM and Tier‑1 customers in both traditional and NEV sectors.
Lead rapid response, root cause analysis, and closure of customer complaints using 8D, PDCA, and other methodologies.
Ensure customer satisfaction through proactive communication, robust corrective actions, and prevention plans.
3. Mechanical / Structural Components Quality
Oversee quality control and validation for mechanical and structural components, including castings, forgings, machined parts, housings, brackets, and hydraulic assemblies.
Ensure product reliability and compliance with OEM specifications and industry standards.
Drive continuous improvement in dimensional accuracy, material performance, and assembly quality.
4. Supplier Quality & Process Control
Lead supplier development and qualification for mechanical and hydraulic components.
Implement APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA, SPC and ensure process capability meets automotive requirements.
Drive suppliers to achieve aggressive PPM targets and zero‑defect expectations.
5. Quality System & Compliance
Oversee IATF16949, ISO9001 and customer-specific requirements.
Ensure internal audits, customer audits, and third‑party audits are successfully passed.
Strengthen quality governance, documentation, and standardization across the organization.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or above in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Automotive Engineering or related field.
12+ years of quality management experience in automotive components; at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
Strong background in mechanical/structural parts quality.
Experience in both traditional automotive and NEV programs is required.
Proven success in customer quality management with major OEMs/Tier‑1 suppliers.
Deep knowledge of APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA, SPC, 8D, and IATF16949.
Fluent English communication skills (spoken & written).
Strong leadership, aggressive improvement mindset, and ability to drive cross‑functional alignment.
Willingness to travel as needed.
