Sr. Manager

• Lead a local technical team in the exploration, characterization, and implementation of high-performance robotic components & technologies. This role requires a balance of hands-on technical expertise in design (e.g., Mechanical, Electrical, CAD),manufacturing process, and strategic leadership to drive cost effective solutions from concept through production. • Cultivate a high-performing team, to design and develop the mechanical hardware of new robotic systems to meet performance, manufacturability, and reliability specifications, including design and procurement of components and subassemblies. • Work with senior management and internal customers to define product pillars and business goals o Decipher complex situations and set appropriate priorities to focus team for success • Develop working knowledge of external customer needs/requirements to ensure product designs provide value to patients, surgeons and hospitals • Evaluate and develop a supply chain strategy for robotic components that meet target costs and performance requirements. Partner with suppliers to drive design improvements, evaluate part sourcing, and resolve design-related issues. • Establish group objectives and individual work goals consistent with overall product development goals o Assign tasks, set priorities, establish metrics, and track progress o Assess employee performance and provide coaching to improve performance • Manage, coach, and mentor mechanical & test engineers o Support engineering team in the development of test protocols, and related tooling to evaluate cost effective alternatives that meet functional specifications o Contribute to and make decisions based on risk assessments, industry standards, and regulatory frameworks. Support engineering team in the development of related risk-benefit analyses • Provide engineering support to other related engineering functions to facilitate transfer of designs (e.g., manufacturing, materials, test engineering, and service) • Manage site specific Operating Procedures and drafting/design guidelines that align with Intuitive’s CAD databases, DOPs/SOPs. • Ensure design engineers follow detailed design history file guidelines and hold a regular cadence of design reviews • Provide engineering resources to support Manufacturing, Materials, Test Engineering, and Service to facilitate transfer of designs • Provide administrative leadership / control for planning, staffing, budgeting, and project/program cost tracking.
