• Develop and execute an integrated ocean freight procurement strategy aligned with volume targets, profitability goals, and market dynamics.
• Set and deliver quarterly/annual objectives for rate competitiveness, cost savings, and yield improvement (including loading factor optimization).
• Recommend and negotiate optimal loading factors by trade lane to maximize space utilization and revenue performance.
• Own the online/spot rate process, ensuring competitive and real-time pricing support for frontline sales teams.
• Lead pricing strategy development for major tenders, ensuring alignment between procurement capabilities and commercial requirements.
• Drive cost optimization across the full ocean freight cost structure, including surcharges, detention & demurrage, and all-in rate components.
2. Carrier Partnership Management
• Build and maintain strong multi-level relationships with major ocean carriers to secure capacity, competitive rates, and market intelligence.
• Negotiate priority space, exclusive agreements, and strategic rate programs with key carriers in the region.
• Identify and develop partnerships with niche or emerging carriers to diversify capacity and reduce risk.
• Ensure consistency and best-in-class terms across contracts managed under different legal entities within the region.
3. Product Synergy (FCL, LCL, LLP, VAS)
• Collaborate with regional LCL, LLP, and value-added services teams to ensure procurement strategies support broader product and network objectives.
• Support LCL procurement and consolidation center strategies through shared carrier leverage and joint negotiation opportunities.
• Enable overflow monetization from consolidation and LLP programs into the LCL product portfolio.
4. Cross-Functional Collaboration & Local Execution
• Work closely with local pricing and management teams across regional branches to ensure procurement strategies are effectively executed.
• Partner with Sales and Marketing to translate customer requirements and tender needs into actionable procurement plans.
• Collaborate with Operations to ensure procurement commitments are operationally feasible, including booking practices and equipment repositioning.
• Serve as the primary regional interface for ocean procurement, ensuring strategy alignment and execution consistency.
5. Market Intelligence & Governance
• Monitor regional and global trade trends, regulatory developments, and competitor pricing/procurement activities.
• Standardize procurement processes, tools, and governance frameworks to ensure compliance, transparency, and operational excellence across the region.
